Jacob was born and raised on farms, from homesteads in North Carolina to high tech greenhouses in the Sierra Nevada desert. His father founded Hungry Mother Organics, the family's organic farming operation, in 2006. Jacob worked there for years, cultivating a passion for growing food. He earned his bachelor's degree from University of Nevada, Reno and later his Professional Maintenance Management and Boiler Operator Certifications through the Association for Facilities Engineering. He has been designing and constructing hydroponic, aquaponic and traditional greenhouse facilities for over 10 years, and he is passionate about empowering businesses and individuals alike with the ability to produce an organic and sustainable products.
We offer agricultural consulting and facility design services ranging from planning and permitting to computer modelling, engineering acquisition, construction management, plan execution, troubleshooting, and remote access.
We specialize in designing ultra-low water usage, recirculating hydroponic and aquaponic production systems. We also assist existing farms and production facilities in increasing water efficiency and reducing costs.
With years of industry experience in indoor, intensive vertical agriculture right here in the high desert of Northern Nevada, let us help you take your growing operation to the next level. From custom home grows to commercial-scale facilities.
Whether you're building a custom backyard greenhouse system or a high-tech commercial production facility, let us assist you with every step of the process. Our services are yours from Idea to Plate.
Building a state of the art agriculture project is an involved process. We help you acquire engineering, apply for permits, create layout drawings, execute structural/ mechanical/ HVAC/ industrial control schematics, and troubleshoot equipment to get your new facility online.
Whether it's nutrient film technique, deep water culture, media beds, float beds or drip irrigation, we specialize in designing hydroponic and aquaponic production systems for the Sierra Nevada high desert environment. We also assist with the installation of primary water filtration systems to ensure crop success.
We can design both naturally lighted greenhouse systems or artifcially lighted, indoor production systems. We can also integrate alternative energies like solar and wind power to offset operating costs in lighted facilities.
Let us help you assess the projected maintenance/ repair/ capital expense costs you will incur over the life of your facility as you move from the construction into the production phase of your operation.
Dayton Valley Aquaponics is a 30,000 square foot, fully climate-controlled, automated greenhouse facility, which houses a 60,000-gallon recirculating aquaponic system capable of full-term vine crop production using 90% less water than conventional farming methods. The facility produces 100,000 lbs. of tomatoes annually, along with 20,000 lbs. of salad greens, tilapia, fresh herbs, and microgreens
Comida Local is a Federal State Marketing Improvement Program, funded through the United States Department of Agriculture. The project received $80,000 to promote local farming and food production techniques among the Nevada Latino community.
Hungry Mother Organics was a 3,000 square foot greenhouse, fully equipped with recirculating aquaponics systems, intended as a small-scale proof of concept for low water usage plant production. The system produced 250,000 seedlings per season, which were ultimately sold in a retail nursery operation.
